Radiography
We have a mobile x-ray unit which is brought to your horse in the comfort of its own stable for diagnostic services.
Pre-purchase and insurance examinations (vettings)
If you are thinking of buying a horse or pony, whether it be an eventer or a child’s lead rein pony, we would recommend that you have a pre-purchase examination carried out. This is a detailed examination following specific guidelines with a written report after the examination listing any abnormalities detected. This can be invaluable when deciding whether the horse or pony is suitable for its intended use. If you are insuring a horse, your insurers may ask for a veterinary certificate. Please telephone 01892 541518 for further details.
Passports
It is a legal requirement for all horses, ponies and donkeys to have a passport which identifies them and provides a record of vaccination and some treatments. We offer a service to mark-up passport applications and this can be done at the same time as vaccinations and other treatment, or we can visit purely to do the passport paperwork.
Medical cases
Our large animal vets attend regular courses to update their medical knowledge. We have one vet who has held a Certificate in Equine Practice for a number of years and another vet is currently working towards this additional qualification.
Measurements
Mr David is an official measurer for the Joint Measurement Board Ltd. and these are carried out at our approved measurement pad at Mark Cross.
Laboratory services
The large animal department has access to its own in-house laboratory for a large number of tests, providing prompt results. Some tests will be sent to outside laboratories, but the vet will keep you well informed and advise you as soon as test results are available.
