Visits
Routine visits are available between 9am and 5pm on weekdays. If your horse requires routine treatment, injures itself or becomes unwell, one of our dedicated equine vets will be able to visit, assess, advise and treat as required. Occasionally horses need to be seen by specialists and prompt referral can be arranged in this case.
Vaccinations
Following an initial vaccination course horses, ponies and donkeys should continue to be vaccinated annually against equine flu and every three years against tetanus. If they are competing there are some very strict guidelines that need to be followed regarding timing of vaccinations. Please telephone 01892 541518 for further information.
Ultrasound
We have an ultrasound machine that has proved invaluable for diagnosis and monitoring of tendon injuries. It is also frequently used in mares for diagnosing early pregnancy and breeding purposes.
Sedation
We are frequently asked to sedate horses and ponies for clipping, shoeing and treatment by equine dental technicians. We will do our best to find a time that suits all parties concerned.
Reproduction
Before breeding from your mare there are a number of things to consider and decisions to be made. Mr David has a keen interest in equine reproduction and the practice will always be happy to advise you further. We have an ultrasound scanner to aid in timing, especially if you choose to use AI. The scanner can also be used to diagnose pregnancy when the time comes.
