Health Plans for Dogs

Dogs’ lifestyles vary greatly, which affects their risk of infections and especially parasitic disease. Our three plans help you to tailor your dog’s parasite control to his or her lifestyle.

Lungworm is a significant risk for dogs in our area, with foxes likely to be acting as a reservoir for the disease and slugs and snails transmitting it to our animals. All versions of our health plans provide protection against lungworm for dogs.

Ticks are increasingly common in adventurous dogs, with deer and sheep commonly the wild reservoir. Ticks become active in the spring and can feed off dogs and cats until the weather cools again in the autumn. Tick control is part of our Forest and Field plans, and can be provided using a collar or a quarterly tablet.

Health Plans for Cats

We recommend that all cats going outside (or who live with a cat or dog going outside) are protected against gut worms (round and tape worms) and fleas. More adventurous rural cats are also at risk of ticks.

We also appreciate that not all cats enjoy parasite treatments (!), and so our Feline Friendly plan provides complete protection with the minimum number of treatments.
